Architecturally designed and sustainably conscious constructed off-grid Adelaide Hills residence

This off-grid home is nestled amongst a vineyard in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. With spectacular views across the vines and surrounding hills, this home evokes a sense of relaxation and tranquillity.

As the previous house was lost in the December 2019 bushfires, the design criteria was clear; to use maintenance-free and non-combustible materials and ensure the structure was as energy-efficient as possible.

To achieve this, we employed construction methods that exceeded the energy report, with higher quality insulation and passive building principles incorporated into the design and build. UPVC double-glazed windows were additionally used, which reduce thermal bridging. The completely off-grid home also includes a solar and battery system that keeps the household comfortable while rainwater is harvested, resulting in no power or water bills.

This stunning home features the grandeur of raked ceilings and Australian Gum Hardwood floors, the architectural lines of Fielders S-Rib Corrugated Iron Roofing and Walling, and the practicality of Mod-wood composite decking.
